Description

Rich, chocolatey fudge brownies topped with candy eyeballs for a fun Halloween twist.

Ingredients

  • 1 box fudge brownie mix
  • ¼ cup water
  • ⅓ cup oil
  • 1 egg
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 (14 oz) can sweetened condensed milk
  • 1 tsp chocolate extract
  • Candy eyeballs

Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 350°F. Line an 8×8-inch pan with foil or parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, combine brownie mix, water, oil, and egg. Mix until smooth. Pour into the prepared pan.
  3. Bake for 40 minutes or until brownies are set. Leave in the pan and cool completely.
  4. Bring 2 inches of water to a boil in a small pot. Place a heatproof bowl over the pot, ensuring it doesn’t touch the water.
  5. Add chocolate chips and sweetened condensed milk to the bowl. Stir until fully melted and smooth. Stir in chocolate extract.
  6. Pour fudge evenly over the cooled brownies.
  7. Press candy eyeballs into the top of the fudge while still soft.
  8. Let the brownies cool for 2–3 hours before slicing into squares.

Notes

Use parchment paper with overhanging edges to lift brownies easily from the pan. For a cleaner cut, chill brownies before slicing. Add a drizzle of red icing for an extra spooky ‘bloody eye’ effect.
