Description

A delicious, quick, and affordable take on the classic Philly cheesesteak made with lean ground beef, melted cheese, and tender bell peppers and onions.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs ground beef
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 sweet yellow onion, chopped
  • 6 oz provolone cheese, or more
  • 4 oz cream cheese, softened
  • 2 tbsp milk
  • 1.5 tsp garlic powder
  • 1.5 tsp salt
  • ½ tsp ground pepper
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • 6 sub rolls, 6 inches each
  • Optional garnish: Fresh parsley, chopped

Instructions

  1. In a large skillet over high heat, brown the ground beef with the bell pepper and onion until the beef is cooked through and the veggies are tender. Drain any excess fat from the pan.
  2. Dice the provolone cheese. Stir in the diced provolone, softened cream cheese, milk, garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper into the beef mixture. Simmer for 3-4 minutes until the cheese is melted and everything is well combined.
  3. Slice the sub rolls and fill each one with a generous portion of the cheesy beef mixture.
  4. If desired, top with extra provolone cheese and place the sandwiches under a preheated broiler for 2-3 minutes, until the cheese is melted and bubbly.
  5. Garnish with chopped fresh parsley if desired, and serve immediately!

Notes

Use lean ground beef for a healthier option. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3-4 days.
