Description
These Witch Finger Pretzel Rods are spooky, fun, and irresistibly delicious. Perfect for parties, snack tables, or a wizard-themed celebration.
Ingredients
- 28 blanched almonds
- 1 tube black gel food coloring
- 14 large pretzel rods
- 12 oz bright green candy coating
Instructions
- Prepare the Fingernails: Use a small food-safe paintbrush to paint the tops of the almonds with black gel food coloring. Place them on parchment paper to dry.
- Prepare the Pretzel Fingers: Break or cut each pretzel rod in half. Melt the green candy coating in a microwave-safe bowl, heating in 30-second increments and stirring until smooth.
- Dip the Pretzels: Holding each pretzel by one end, dip it into the green coating, leaving about ½ inch uncovered at the top. Place on a parchment-lined baking sheet. While the coating is still wet, press a painted almond onto the tip to form a fingernail.
- Add the Knuckle Details: When the coating is starting to set but not fully hardened, use a toothpick to gently roll across the pretzel, creating wrinkle lines near the fingernail and halfway down the finger.
- Set and Serve: Refrigerate the tray for 10 minutes until completely hardened. Serve the witch fingers on a platter or standing upright in a jar.
Notes
If you can’t find blanched almonds, blanch whole almonds yourself by boiling for 1 minute and slipping off the skins. For nut-free nails, use candy corn, chocolate-dipped almonds, or trimmed black licorice pieces. Store witch fingers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to one month.
