Description

A classic cherry pie that brings nostalgia with its sweet filling and flaky crust, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups cherries, pitted
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 2 tablespoons cornstarch
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon butter
  • 1 package of pie crusts (or homemade dough)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  2. Combine the pitted cherries, sugar, cornstarch, lemon juice, vanilla extract, and salt in a mixing bowl. Gently stir until well-blended.
  3. Roll out one pie crust and fit it into a 9-inch pie dish, ensuring it hangs over the edges slightly.
  4. Pour the cherry mixture into the prepared pie crust and dot with pieces of butter.
  5. Roll out the second pie crust and lay it over the filling. Seal the edges by crimping or fluting.
  6. Cut several slits into the top crust to allow steam to escape during baking.
  7. Bake for 30-35 minutes, or until the crust is golden and the filling is bubbling up.
  8. Allow the pie to cool for at least 20 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

Serve warm with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream for an extra treat. Store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
