Description

Tuna steaks seared to perfection, topped with a creamy garlic sauce, paired with a fresh salad for a delightful dining experience.

Ingredients

  • 2 fresh tuna steaks (about 6 oz each)
  • 2 tablespoons olive oil
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • 1 cup heavy cream
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tablespoon Dijon mustard
  • 1 tablespoon fresh lemon juice
  • 2 cups mixed salad greens (arugula, spinach, or baby kale)
  • 1 cup cherry tomatoes, halved
  • ½ cucumber, sliced
  • ¼ red onion, thinly sliced
  • Fresh herbs for garnish (parsley or chives)

Instructions

  1. Prep the Tuna: Pat the tuna steaks dry with paper towels. Season both sides generously with salt and pepper.
  2. Sear the Tuna: Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat. Once the oil is hot, add the tuna steaks. Sear for 2-3 minutes on each side for medium-rare, adjusting the time for your preferred doneness. Remove from heat and allow to rest.
  3. Make the Creamy Garlic Sauce: In the same skillet, reduce the heat to medium. Add minced garlic and sauté for about 30 seconds or until fragrant.
  4. Add Cream: Pour in the heavy cream, stirring well. Follow with Dijon mustard, lemon juice, and a pinch of salt and pepper. Simmer for 3-5 minutes until the sauce thickens slightly.
  5. Prepare the Salad: In a large bowl, toss together mixed greens, cherry tomatoes, cucumber, and red onion. You can drizzle with your favorite dressing or simply add olive oil and vinegar.
  6. Plate the Dish: Slice the seared tuna steaks against the grain. Arrange on plates alongside the salad. Drizzle the creamy garlic sauce over the tuna.
  7. Garnish and Serve: Finish with a sprinkle of fresh herbs for color and flavor. Enjoy immediately while everything is hot.

Notes

Tuna is best enjoyed medium-rare. For added flavor, consider marinating the tuna. Store leftovers in airtight containers in the refrigerator for up to two days.
