Description

Marinated and grilled to perfection, these Teriyaki Beef Skewers burst with sweet and savory flavors, perfect for any gathering.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs top sirloin steak (sliced thin, 1/4 inch thick)
  • ½ cup dark brown sugar
  • ⅓ cup soy sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons BBQ sauce
  • 2 Tablespoons white sesame seeds
  • 2 Tablespoons minced garlic
  • 1 Tablespoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon white sugar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Beef: Remove the roast from its packaging and thoroughly dry it with paper towels. Trim away any connective tissues for a tender bite.
  2. Slice the Beef: Cut the roast into thin, uniform slices against the grain, aiming for pieces approximately 2 x 3 inches and about 1 cm thick.
  3. Mix the Marinade: In a large mixing bowl, combine brown sugar, soy sauce, garlic, sesame oil, white sugar, sesame seeds, and BBQ sauce. Whisk until well blended.
  4. Marinate: Add the beef slices to the bowl and mix until coated. Cover with plastic wrap or transfer to a zip-top plastic bag. Refrigerate for 60 to 1440 minutes.
  5. Skewer the Beef: Thread about six slices of marinated beef onto each skewer stick, leaving a 2-inch gap on the dull side for easy handling.
  6. Prepare the Sauce: If there’s leftover marinade, bring it to a boil in a saucepan, stirring occasionally until it thickens.
  7. Grill: Preheat your grill to a medium-high heat (around 400°F). Grill the skewers for 3 to 4 minutes per side until cooked through and slightly charred.
  8. Serve: Enjoy the skewers immediately, either as appetizers or paired with your favorite side dishes.

Notes

For a lighter option, substitute soy sauce with low-sodium soy sauce. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to 3 days.
