A delightful dessert that combines sweet strawberries with salty pretzels, perfect for summer gatherings.
Ingredients
- 2 cups pretzel sticks
- 1/2 cup butter, melted
- 1/2 cup granulated sugar
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 1 cup powdered sugar
- 8 oz whipped topping, thawed
- 2 cups strawberries, sliced
- 1 cup strawberry gelatin
- 2 cups boiling water
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Crush the pretzel sticks in a zip-top bag until coarse. Combine them with melted butter and granulated sugar.
- Press this mixture into the bottom of a 9×13 inch pan.
- Bake for 10 minutes, then allow it to cool completely on a wire rack.
- In a mixing bowl, beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar until smooth. Fold in the thawed whipped topping and spread this creamy layer over the cooled pretzel crust.
- In another bowl, dissolve the strawberry gelatin in boiling water. Once slightly cooled, stir in the sliced strawberries.
- Pour the strawberry gelatin mixture over the cream cheese layer and refrigerate until fully set, about 120-240 minutes.
- Serve chilled and enjoy!
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute low-fat cream cheese and whipped topping.
