Description

Celebrate Halloween with a unique and portable Walking Taco Bar that’s perfect for parties or Trick or Treating.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs. lean ground beef
  • 1 cup chopped onion
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 3 Tbs. taco seasoning (homemade or store-bought)
  • 2 cans (8 ounces each) tomato sauce
  • 1 can (4.5 ounces) chopped green chiles
  • Taco toppings: shredded cheese, guacamole, salsa, sour cream, jalapeños
  • Snack size bags of chips (nacho chips or corn chips)

Instructions

  1. In a large non-stick skillet, cook ground beef, onion, garlic, and taco seasoning over medium-high heat until the beef is browned, about 5 minutes.
  2. Stir in tomato sauce and green chiles, bring to a boil, then reduce heat to medium and simmer for 25 minutes.
  3. Transfer the beef mixture to a slow cooker on warm or low for easy serving at your party.
  4. Arrange taco toppings in bowls and set up a variety of chip bags.
  5. To assemble: Gently crush a bag of chips, open it, top with taco filling, and add your favorite toppings. Enjoy!

Notes

You can prepare the beef mixture ahead of time and refrigerate it, reheating just before serving. Add guacamole last to prevent browning. Leftovers can be stored in Tupperware and refrigerated for 2–3 days.
