Description
Juicy, smoky turkey burgers with bold Southwestern flavors, perfect for a quick and satisfying meal.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground turkey
- 1/2 cup diced onion
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh cilantro
- 1 jalapeño, finely chopped
- 1 teaspoon chili powder
- 1 teaspoon cumin
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Burger buns
- Optional toppings: avocado, salsa, cheese
Instructions
- Mix the burger mixture: In a large bowl, add the ground turkey, diced onion, chopped cilantro, chopped jalapeño, chili powder, cumin, garlic powder, plus a generous pinch of salt and pepper. Mix gently until the seasonings and vegetables are evenly distributed.
- Form patties: Divide the mixture into equal portions and shape into patties. Press a slight indentation in the center of each patty to help it cook evenly and reduce “puffing.”
- Preheat the cooking surface: Heat a grill or skillet over medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grates or pan to prevent sticking.
- Cook until done: Cook the patties for about 5–7 minutes per side, flipping once, until cooked through.
- Serve: Place burgers on buns and add toppings like avocado, salsa, and/or cheese.
Notes
Don’t overmix the turkey to prevent dense burgers. Cook to an internal temperature of 165°F for safety.
