Description

Juicy turkey burgers infused with Southwest spices, topped with fresh avocado and tomato for a satisfying meal that’s lighter than beef.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground turkey
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs
  • 1/4 cup diced onion
  • 1/4 cup diced bell pepper
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Burger buns
  • Lettuce, tomato, and avocado for topping

Instructions

  1. Mix the burger base by adding ground turkey, breadcrumbs, onion, bell pepper, garlic, chili powder, cumin, salt, and pepper to a large bowl. Mix gently until evenly distributed.
  2. Form the patties by dividing the mixture into 4 equal portions and shaping them about 3/4-inch thick with a dimple in the center.
  3. Preheat the cooking surface to medium-high heat, lightly oiling as needed.
  4. Cook the patties for 5–7 minutes per side until browned and fully cooked, reaching an internal temperature of 165°F (74°C).
  5. Toast the buns cut-side down for 1–2 minutes until lightly golden.
  6. Assemble the burgers with lettuce, tomato, avocado, and any preferred toppings. Serve immediately.

Notes

These turkey burgers can be frozen for up to 3 months, separated with parchment paper to prevent sticking.
