Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1 egg
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, sliced
  • 2 celery stalks, sliced
  • Fresh parsley for garnish


Instructions

  1. Boil the whole chicken in chicken broth until fully cooked.
  2. Remove the chicken, shred it with a fork, and set it aside.
  3. In the same pot, sauté the diced onion, sliced carrots, and celery until tender.
  4. In a mixing bowl, combine flour, milk, egg, baking powder, salt, and pepper to form a dough.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of dough into the boiling broth to create dumplings.
  6. Cook dumplings for 10-15 minutes until puffed and cooked through.
  7. Return the shredded chicken to the pot and gently stir to combine.
  8. Serve hot, garnished with fresh parsley.
