Ingredients
- 2 cups sourdough starter
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup sugar
- 1/4 cup melted butter
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 4 cups all-purpose flour
- 2 tablespoons ground cinnamon
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 egg
- 2 tablespoons butter (for brushing)
- 1 cup powdered sugar (for icing)
- 2 tablespoons milk (for icing)
- 1/2 teaspoon vanilla (for icing)
Instructions
- Combine the sourdough starter, milk, melted butter, sugar, vanilla, and salt in a large mixing bowl.
- Gradually add flour, mixing to form a soft dough.
- Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
- Cover the dough and let it rise for 1-2 hours, or until doubled in size.
- Roll the dough out into a rectangle. Spread softened butter over the surface, then sprinkle with cinnamon and brown sugar.
- Gently roll the dough into a log and slice into 1-inch thick rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and let rise again for about an hour.
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C). Bake for 25-30 minutes until golden brown and fragrant.
- Whisk powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla for icing. Drizzle over rolls while warm.
