Description

Delightful old-fashioned butter mints with a delicate peppermint flavor, perfect for gift baskets or cozy evenings.

Ingredients

  • ½ cup butter, softened
  • 3 cups powdered sugar
  • 2 tablespoons heavy whipping cream
  • ¼ teaspoon peppermint extract
  • Red gel food coloring

Instructions

  1. In a large mixing bowl, beat the softened butter until light and fluffy.
  2. Gradually mix in the heavy cream, powdered sugar, and peppermint extract until a smooth, thick dough forms.
  3. Separate the dough into two portions; leave three-quarters white and tint the remaining quarter with red food coloring.
  4. Roll each color into thin ropes, twist one red and one white rope together, then pinch off small sections to form individual mints.
  5. Arrange shaped mints on parchment paper and let them air dry for 1–2 hours; cut into pieces and allow to dry for 24 hours.

Notes

Use gel food coloring for vibrant colors without altering the dough texture. Store in an airtight container.
