A rich and creamy dish of layered potatoes and cheese, perfect for family dinners or festive occasions.
Ingredients
- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon thyme (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) or prepare your crockpot on low.
- In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream and minced garlic over medium heat until warmed through (do not boil).
- In a greased baking dish or crockpot, layer half of the sliced potatoes.
- Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle with half of the cheddar and Parmesan cheeses.
- Repeat the layering with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheeses.
- Dot the top with butter, and season with salt, pepper, and thyme (if using).
- For oven baking, cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes; then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden and bubbly. For a crockpot, cover and cook on low for about 6 hours or until the potatoes are tender.
Notes
Best served hot with roasted meats or a fresh green salad. Can store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to three days or freeze for three months.
