Description

A rich and creamy dish of layered potatoes and cheese, perfect for family dinners or festive occasions.

Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup grated cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon thyme (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) or prepare your crockpot on low.
  2. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream and minced garlic over medium heat until warmed through (do not boil).
  3. In a greased baking dish or crockpot, layer half of the sliced potatoes.
  4. Pour half of the cream mixture over the potatoes, then sprinkle with half of the cheddar and Parmesan cheeses.
  5. Repeat the layering with the remaining potatoes, cream mixture, and cheeses.
  6. Dot the top with butter, and season with salt, pepper, and thyme (if using).
  7. For oven baking, cover with foil and bake for 45 minutes; then remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until golden and bubbly. For a crockpot, cover and cook on low for about 6 hours or until the potatoes are tender.

Notes

Best served hot with roasted meats or a fresh green salad. Can store leftovers in the refrigerator for up to three days or freeze for three months.
