Description

A delightful dish of creamy, cheesy scalloped potatoes, perfect for gatherings and comfort food cravings.


Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
  • 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Grease a baking dish with butter.
  3. Layer the potato slices in the dish, adding chopped onion and minced garlic between layers.
  4. In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat, seasoning with salt and pepper.
  5. Pour the cream mixture evenly over the potatoes.
  6. Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
  7. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  8. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  9. Allow to cool slightly before serving.

Notes

For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream or try a plant-based cheese.
