Ingredients
- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup shredded cheese (cheddar or your choice)
- 1/2 cup onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 1 teaspoon fresh thyme (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C).
- Grease a baking dish with butter.
- Layer the potato slices in the dish, adding chopped onion and minced garlic between layers.
- In a saucepan, heat the heavy cream over medium heat, seasoning with salt and pepper.
- Pour the cream mixture evenly over the potatoes.
- Sprinkle shredded cheese on top.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Allow to cool slightly before serving.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute half-and-half for the heavy cream or try a plant-based cheese.
