Ingredients
- 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or a mix)
- 1 onion, finely chopped
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- Salt and pepper to taste
- Butter for greasing the baking dish
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and generously grease a baking dish with butter.
- Place half of the sliced potatoes in the dish, then add half of the chopped onion and minced garlic. Season with salt and pepper.
- Pour half of the heavy cream over the layered ingredients and sprinkle with half of the cheese.
- Repeat the process with the remaining ingredients: another layer of potatoes, onions, garlic, cream, and cheese.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
- Remove the foil and let it bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Allow the dish to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
For a lighter version, you can replace heavy cream with half-and-half or a plant-based milk alternative. You can also add veggies or spices for a creative twist.
