Description

A comforting and creamy scalloped potatoes recipe, perfect for family gatherings and holiday feasts.


Ingredients

  • 4 large potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheese (cheddar or a mix)
  • 1 onion, finely chopped
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • Butter for greasing the baking dish


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and generously grease a baking dish with butter.
  2. Place half of the sliced potatoes in the dish, then add half of the chopped onion and minced garlic. Season with salt and pepper.
  3. Pour half of the heavy cream over the layered ingredients and sprinkle with half of the cheese.
  4. Repeat the process with the remaining ingredients: another layer of potatoes, onions, garlic, cream, and cheese.
  5. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for 45 minutes.
  6. Remove the foil and let it bake for an additional 15-20 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  7. Allow the dish to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a lighter version, you can replace heavy cream with half-and-half or a plant-based milk alternative. You can also add veggies or spices for a creative twist.
