Description
A spooky and fun Halloween party centerpiece with delicious guacamole spilling from a carved pumpkin.
Ingredients
- 1 pumpkin, wiped clean and dried
- 2–3 cups guacamole (store-bought or homemade, chunky works best)
- Tortilla chips, for serving
Instructions
- Draw a large circle on the bottom of your pumpkin with a Sharpie. This should be big enough to fit your hand inside.
- Use a sharp paring knife to cut out the circle and remove the piece of shell. Set it aside.
- With a large spoon, scoop out all the seeds and stringy pulp from the inside of the pumpkin until smooth.
- Choose one side of the pumpkin for the “face” and carve out round eyes, a nose, and a wide open mouth for the vomit effect.
- Replace the bottom circle of the pumpkin so it sits flat. Place the pumpkin on a tray or large plate.
- Spoon guacamole in front of the mouth and pile it so it looks like the pumpkin is puking. Spread it onto the tray for dramatic effect.
- Surround the guacamole with tortilla chips for dipping and serve immediately.
Notes
For a chunkier look, use homemade guacamole with diced tomatoes, onions, and avocado. It creates a creepier “vomit” texture. Carve the pumpkin the day of your event to keep it fresh. If needed, rub petroleum jelly on the carved edges to slow browning. Don’t move the pumpkin after adding the guacamole—place it directly where you plan to serve.
