Description

Enjoy warm, soft pretzel rolls with a golden-brown crust and fluffy interior, perfect for any occasion.

Ingredients

  • 2 cups warm water
  • 1 packet active dry yeast (2 1/4 teaspoons)
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 4 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 cup baking soda
  • Coarse sea salt for topping
  • 1 egg (for egg wash)

Instructions

  1. Combine warm water, yeast, and sugar in a large bowl. Allow it to sit for about 5 minutes until bubbly.
  2. Add flour and salt. Mix until a dough forms.
  3. Knead the dough on a floured surface for about 5-7 minutes until smooth.
  4. Place the dough in a greased bowl, cover with a towel, and let it rise for roughly an hour or until doubled in size.
  5. Preheat your oven to 425°F (220°C).
  6. Punch down the dough and divide into 12 equal pieces. Shape each piece into a roll.
  7. Bring 10 cups of water and baking soda to a boil in a large pot. Boil each roll for 30 seconds, then place on a greased baking sheet.
  8. Brush each roll with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse sea salt.
  9. Bake for 15-20 minutes or until golden brown.
  10. Let them cool slightly before serving.
