A heartwarming Italian-American comfort food that combines tender pasta, rich marinara sauce, and gooey cheese for a satisfying dish that everyone loves.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ziti pasta (or penne as a substitute)
- 3 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
- 2 cups ricotta cheese
- 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- Salt and pepper, to taste
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
- In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the ziti until al dente. Drain and set aside.
- In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta, marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, and half of the mozzarella cheese. Stir until well mixed.
- In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, layer half of the pasta mixture, then sprinkle half the Parmesan cheese on top. Repeat with the remaining pasta and finish with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for about 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.
Notes
Best served straight from the oven. Sprinkle fresh basil or parsley on top for presentation.
