Description

A heartwarming Italian-American comfort food that combines tender pasta, rich marinara sauce, and gooey cheese for a satisfying dish that everyone loves.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound ziti pasta (or penne as a substitute)
  • 3 cups marinara sauce (store-bought or homemade)
  • 2 cups ricotta cheese
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • Salt and pepper, to taste

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. In a large pot, bring salted water to a boil and cook the ziti until al dente. Drain and set aside.
  3. In a large mixing bowl, combine the cooked pasta, marinara sauce, ricotta cheese, and half of the mozzarella cheese. Stir until well mixed.
  4. In a greased 9×13 inch baking dish, layer half of the pasta mixture, then sprinkle half the Parmesan cheese on top. Repeat with the remaining pasta and finish with the remaining mozzarella cheese.
  5. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake for about 25 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes or until the cheese is bubbly and golden.
  6. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

Best served straight from the oven. Sprinkle fresh basil or parsley on top for presentation.
