A nostalgic and easy-to-make pineapple upside down cake, perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 1 box yellow cake mix
- 1 can sliced pineapple (in juice)
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1/4 cup butter
- Maraschino cherries (for garnish, optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Melt the butter in a 9×13 inch pan.
- Sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the melted butter.
- Arrange the pineapple slices on top of the brown sugar, adding a cherry in the center of each slice if you like.
- Prepare the yellow cake mix according to the package instructions and pour the batter evenly over the pineapple layer.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted in the center comes out clean.
- Cool for a few minutes and then invert onto a serving plate. Enjoy!
Notes
Serve with vanilla ice cream or whipped cream. Store in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 3 days.
