Description

A classic dessert featuring caramelized pineapple and cherries atop a moist, fluffy cake.

Ingredients

  • 1 package yellow cake mix
  • 1 cup sliced pineapple rings (canned or fresh)
  • 1 jar maraschino cherries
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1/4 cup unsalted butter
  • 1 cup water
  • 3 large eggs
  • 1/3 cup vegetable oil

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and grease a round cake pan with cooking spray or butter.
  2. Melt the butter in a small saucepan over low heat. Pour it into the bottom of your prepared pan and sprinkle the brown sugar evenly over the butter.
  3. Arrange the pineapple rings on top of the brown sugar, and place a maraschino cherry in the center of each ring for added color.
  4. Combine the cake mix, water, eggs, and vegetable oil in a mixing bowl. Mix until smooth and well combined.
  5. Pour the cake batter over the arranged pineapple and cherries in the pan, ensuring even coverage.
  6. Bake in the preheated oven for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool for about 10 minutes, then carefully invert it onto a serving plate. Serve warm or at room temperature.

Notes

For an irresistible presentation, serve with whipped cream or vanilla ice cream. Store leftovers in an airtight container at room temperature for up to three days.
