Ingredients

  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/2 cup brown sugar
  • 1 can (20 ounces) sliced pineapple, drained
  • Maraschino cherries (optional)
  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Melt the butter in a round cake pan and pour it into the pan, ensuring it’s evenly coated.
  3. Evenly sprinkle the brown sugar over the melted butter.
  4. Arrange the pineapple slices over the brown sugar layer and add a cherry in the center of each slice, if using.
  5. Combine flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
  6. Mix milk, eggs, and vanilla extract in another bowl until smooth.
  7. Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
