Ingredients
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/2 cup brown sugar
- 1 can (20 ounces) sliced pineapple, drained
- Maraschino cherries (optional)
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Melt the butter in a round cake pan and pour it into the pan, ensuring it’s evenly coated.
- Evenly sprinkle the brown sugar over the melted butter.
- Arrange the pineapple slices over the brown sugar layer and add a cherry in the center of each slice, if using.
- Combine flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt in a separate bowl.
- Mix milk, eggs, and vanilla extract in another bowl until smooth.
- Pour the wet mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
- Pour the batter over the pineapple layer in the pan.
- Bake for 35-40 minutes or until a toothpick comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool for about 10 minutes before inverting onto a serving plate.
