Delicious and healthy apple fritters made in an air fryer, offering a crispy texture without the use of an oven.
Ingredients
- 1½ cups all-purpose flour
- 2 teaspoons baking powder
- ½ teaspoon fine sea salt
- ¼ teaspoon cinnamon
- ⅓ cup granulated sugar
- 3 tablespoons unsalted butter, melted
- ½ cup unsweetened applesauce
- ¼ cup milk of choice
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 large apple, peeled and diced
- Glaze: 1½ cups powdered sugar, sifted
- 2–3 tablespoons milk of choice
Instructions
- In a medium bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and cinnamon.
- In a separate bowl, combine the sugar with the melted butter. Add the applesauce, milk, and vanilla extract, stirring to incorporate.
- Add the wet ingredients to the dry ingredients and stir until just combined. Fold in the diced apples.
- Lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray. Preheat the air fryer to 400°F (200°C).
- Scoop about ¼ cup of batter per fritter and arrange in the basket, leaving space between each. Cook for 5–6 minutes, then flip and cook for an additional 5–6 minutes until golden brown.
- In a medium bowl, stir together the powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle over the warm fritters.
Notes
Store leftovers in an airtight container in the fridge for up to a week. Reheat in the air fryer at 350°F (175°C) for 3–4 minutes to restore crispiness. Add a splash of vanilla extract for enhanced flavor.
