Total Time: 1 hr 50 min

Ingredients

Nutella Slab:

  • 400g (13 oz) Nutella

Wet Ingredients:

  • 200g unsalted butter (1¾ sticks)
  • 200g dark chocolate chips or melts
  • 1 cup (175g) brown sugar
  • 3 eggs (room temp)
  • 1 tsp vanilla extract

Dry Ingredients:

  • ½ cup (75g) all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup (30g) cocoa powder
  • Pinch of salt

Instructions

  1. Line an 8″ square pan with parchment paper. Spread the Nutella evenly inside and freeze for 1 hour until solid. Remove and place the slab on a plate in the freezer while you prepare the batter.
  2. Preheat oven to 350°F (180°C). Re-line the same pan with parchment.
  3. In a microwave-safe bowl, melt the butter and chocolate together in 30-second bursts, stirring between each, until smooth. Let cool slightly.
  4. Whisk in the eggs, brown sugar, and vanilla. Add flour, cocoa, and salt, mixing just until combined.
  5. Pour half the batter into the prepared pan. Carefully place the frozen Nutella slab on top. Spread the remaining batter over the Nutella.
  6. Bake for 35 minutes. A skewer inserted should come out with light Nutella and dark brownie smears.
  7. Cool in the pan for 30 minutes, then lift out and cool for another 45 minutes before slicing into 16 squares.

Pro Tips

Freeze the Nutella slab the night before to make assembly easier.
Don’t overbake or you’ll lose the fudgy texture.
For clean cuts, chill the brownies before slicing.
