Ingredients
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 1 cup whole milk
- 3/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 4 large egg yolks
Instructions
- Whisk together egg yolks and sugar until smooth in a medium saucepan.
- Add the milk and cream, stirring constantly.
- Cook over medium heat, continually stirring, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
- Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
- Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight.
- Pour the chilled base into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
- Transfer the ice cream to a lidded container and freeze for at least 4 hours before serving.
Notes
Store in an airtight container to prevent ice crystals from forming and use wax paper between the ice cream and the lid for extra creaminess.
