Ingredients

  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 1 cup whole milk
  • 3/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 4 large egg yolks


Instructions

  1. Whisk together egg yolks and sugar until smooth in a medium saucepan.
  2. Add the milk and cream, stirring constantly.
  3. Cook over medium heat, continually stirring, until the mixture thickens and coats the back of a spoon.
  4. Remove from heat and stir in vanilla extract.
  5. Chill the mixture in the refrigerator for at least 4 hours or overnight.
  6. Pour the chilled base into your ice cream maker and churn according to the manufacturer’s instructions.
  7. Transfer the ice cream to a lidded container and freeze for at least 4 hours before serving.

Notes

Store in an airtight container to prevent ice crystals from forming and use wax paper between the ice cream and the lid for extra creaminess.
