Ingredients
- 1/2 cup butter
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 1 can (20 oz) sliced pineapple, drained
- Maraschino cherries
- 1 1/2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 cup milk
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Melt the butter in a round cake pan, then stir in the brown sugar until fully combined.
- Arrange the pineapple slices decoratively in the melted butter and sugar, placing a cherry in the center of each pineapple ring.
- Whisk together flour, granulated sugar, baking powder, and salt in a mixing bowl.
- Combine milk, eggs, and vanilla extract in another bowl and whisk until smooth.
- Gradually mix the wet ingredients into the dry ingredients until just combined; avoid over-mixing.
- Pour the batter gently over the arranged pineapple and cherries.
- Bake for 30-35 minutes or until a toothpick inserted into the center comes out clean.
- Allow the cake to cool for a few minutes before carefully inverting it onto a serving plate.
