Description
A creamy avocado delight that serves as a fresh dip or topping for various dishes.
Ingredients
- 4-5 ripe avocados
- 1/2 teaspoon Kosher salt (or to taste)
- 1 tablespoon fresh lime juice
- 2 cloves garlic (minced)
- 1/4 teaspoon red pepper flakes (optional)
- Freshly grated black pepper (to taste)
- 1/4 cup sweet onion (finely diced)
- 1 jalapeno (stems and seeds removed, finely minced)
- 1 ripe medium cherry tomato (seeds and pulp removed, chopped)
- 2 tablespoons cilantro leaves (finely chopped)
Instructions
- Cut the avocados in half and remove the pit.
- Using a blunt knife, score the inside flesh of each half and scoop out the avocado into a large mixing bowl.
- Sprinkle the salt, a pinch of black pepper, minced garlic, red pepper flakes, and lime juice over the avocados.
- With a fork, mash the avocado to your desired consistency, leaving some chunks intact for texture.
- Gently fold in the diced onion, jalapeno, tomato, and cilantro. Take care not to over-mash.
- Taste and adjust the flavors—add more salt, lime juice, or hot sauce as preferred.
- Serve immediately, or cover tightly with plastic wrap to avoid browning. Refrigerate until needed but serve within a few hours for optimal freshness.
- Garnish with extra chopped cilantro, diced tomatoes, or jalapeño for a beautiful presentation.
Notes
Use ripe avocados for the best flavor and creaminess. Store in an airtight container to minimize browning.
