Description

Spooky twist on a classic appetizer with marbled ‘spiderweb’ egg whites and neon-colored yolk filling, perfect for Halloween.

Ingredients

  • 6 hard-boiled eggs
  • Food coloring (black, purple, green, or other)
  • Water (enough to cover eggs)
  • Splash of white vinegar
  • 3 tbsp mayonnaise
  • 1 tsp mustard (Dijon or yellow)
  • 1 tsp apple cider vinegar
  • Pinch of salt
  • Pinch of pepper
  • Optional garnish: paprika, chia seeds, or parsley

Instructions

  1. Gently crack the shells of the hard-boiled eggs with a spoon or by rolling them on the counter. Leave the shells on.
  2. In a container, mix enough water to cover the eggs with food coloring. Stir well.
  3. Place the cracked eggs in the colored water, cover, and refrigerate for at least 3 hours or up to overnight.
  4. Remove eggs, rinse with water and a splash of vinegar, then peel carefully to reveal the marbled pattern.
  5. Slice eggs in half lengthwise and remove the yolks into a bowl.
  6. Mix yolks with mayonnaise, mustard, apple cider vinegar, salt, and pepper until smooth. Add food coloring to tint the yolk mixture.
  7. Spoon or pipe the yolk mixture back into the egg whites.
  8. Garnish with paprika, chia seeds, or parsley if desired. Serve chilled.

Notes

The longer the eggs soak, the darker the marbled spiderweb effect will be. Try different colors to match your party theme.
