Description
Delicious and easy-to-make Ground Beef Philly Cheesesteaks, perfect for weeknight dinners or weekend cookouts.
Ingredients
- 1 pound ground beef
- 1 medium onion, thinly sliced
- 1 medium green bell pepper, thinly sliced
- 1 cup mushrooms, sliced (optional)
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
- Salt, to taste
- Black pepper, to taste
- 4 slices provolone cheese (or any cheese of your preference)
- 4 hoagie rolls
- Olive oil, for cooking
Instructions
- In a large skillet, drizzle a bit of olive oil and heat it over medium-high.
- Add the sliced onions and bell peppers. Sauté for about 3-5 minutes until tender. If using mushrooms, toss them in and cook for an additional 3 minutes.
- Push the veggies to the side and add the ground beef. Break it apart and cook until no longer pink, about 5-7 minutes.
- Stir in the garlic powder, Worcestershire sauce, salt, and pepper. Mix everything thoroughly for about 2 minutes.
- Lower the heat and place a slice of cheese over the beef mixture. Cover the skillet with a lid for about 2-3 minutes until the cheese melts.
- While your cheese is melting, slice the hoagie rolls lengthwise without cutting all the way through.
- Once the cheese melts, spoon the beef and vegetable mixture into each roll.
- For added texture, consider toasting the rolls before serving.
Notes
Use fresh ingredients for the best flavor and feel free to experiment with different types of cheese.
