Description
Crispy, golden fried mushrooms bursting with umami flavor, perfect as an appetizer or snack.
Ingredients
- Fresh mushrooms (preferably button or cremini)
- 1 cup flour
- 2 eggs
- 1 cup breadcrumbs
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1 teaspoon pepper
- Oil for frying
Instructions
- Clean the mushrooms: Gently wipe them with a damp cloth and remove the stems.
- Prepare the egg wash: In a bowl, beat the eggs and set aside.
- Mix the dry ingredients: In another bowl, combine flour, salt, and pepper.
- Dredge the mushrooms: Coat each mushroom first in the flour mixture, then dip in the beaten eggs, and finally coat with breadcrumbs.
- Heat the oil: Pour enough oil into a frying pan to cover the bottom and heat it over medium heat.
- Fry the mushrooms: Carefully place the coated mushrooms in the hot oil and fry until golden brown on all sides, about 3-4 minutes.
- Drain and serve: Remove the fried mushrooms from the oil, place them on paper towels to drain excess oil, and serve hot.
Notes
Serve with marinara sauce, ranch dressing, or garlic aioli for dipping. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for 2-3 days.
