Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup all-purpose flour
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1/2 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup buttermilk
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter
  • Cooking spray or additional butter for the pan


Instructions

  1. Preheat a heavy skillet or electric griddle over medium heat and grease lightly.
  2. Mix dry ingredients in a bowl: flour, sugar, baking powder, baking soda, and salt.
  3. Mix wet ingredients in another bowl: buttermilk, egg, and melted butter.
  4. Combine wet and dry mixtures, stirring gently until just combined; it’s okay if the batter is lumpy.
  5. Rest the batter for 5 minutes if possible.
  6. Spoon about 1/4 cup batter per pancake onto the heated surface.
  7. Watch for bubbles to form across the surface; cook for 2–3 minutes.
  8. Flip and cook for another 1–2 minutes until golden.
  9. Keep pancakes warm in a 200°F oven while cooking the rest.
  10. Serve immediately with your choice of toppings.
