Description

These Strawberry Cream Cheese Danishes are buttery, flaky, and topped with sweet cream cheese and juicy strawberries, ready in just 25 minutes thanks to frozen puff pastry!


Ingredients

  • 1 sheet frozen puff pastry, thawed
  • 8 oz cream cheese, softened
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar + ½ tbsp, divided
  • 1½ tsp vanilla extract, divided
  • 2 cups fresh strawberries, sliced
  • ½ tbsp cornstarch
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp water
  • ½ cup powdered sugar
  • 1 tbsp milk


Instructions

  1. Preheat oven to 400°F (200°C).
  2. In a medium bowl, beat together cream cheese, ¼ cup sugar, and 1 tsp vanilla until smooth.
  3. In another bowl, toss strawberries with cornstarch and remaining ½ tbsp sugar.
  4. Lightly flour a surface and roll out puff pastry. Cut into 8 equal rectangles. Score a border on each piece.
  5. Spread cream cheese mixture inside the borders, then top with strawberries.
  6. Mix egg and water for egg wash and brush the borders.
  7. Bake on a parchment-lined sheet for 15–20 minutes or until golden and puffed.
  8. Cool 5 minutes. Mix powdered sugar, ½ tsp vanilla, and milk. Drizzle glaze over danishes.

Notes

Use all-butter puff pastry for extra flavor and flakiness. Don’t skip the glaze, it adds just the right touch of sweetness. These danishes are best the day of, but can be stored in the fridge and lightly reheated.
