Description

A classic, easy-to-make meatloaf that’s tender, flavorful, and topped with a sweet-tangy glaze. Perfect for a comforting weeknight dinner.

Ingredients

  • pounds ground beef (80/20 blend)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup milk
  • 1 cup dried bread crumbs (plain or Italian seasoned)
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • ⅓ cup ketchup
  • 2 tablespoons brown sugar
  • 2 tablespoons prepared mustard (yellow or Dijon)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and lightly grease a 9×5-inch loaf pan.
  2. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, chopped onion, milk, bread crumbs, and egg; season with salt and pepper and mix until just combined.
  3. Press the meat mixture evenly into the prepared loaf pan.
  4. In a small bowl, mix together ketchup, brown sugar, and mustard; spread over the top of the meatloaf.
  5. Bake for about 1 hour, or until the meatloaf is no longer pink in the center (internal temperature should be at least 160°F).
  6. Let rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing and serving.

Notes

For added flavor, try sautéing the onions before adding them to the mix. Can substitute crushed crackers for the breadcrumbs if desired.
