Description

A comforting classic dish featuring tender chicken and fluffy dumplings in a flavorful broth, perfect for weeknight dinners and family gatherings.

Ingredients

  • 1 pound of chicken (boneless and skinless)
  • 4 cups of chicken broth
  • 2 cups of mixed vegetables (carrots, peas, corn)
  • 1 cup of milk
  • 2 cups of all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon of baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon of salt
  • 1/4 cup of butter (melted)
  • 1 large egg
  • 1/2 teaspoon of black pepper

Instructions

  1. In a large pot, bring the chicken broth to a boil. Add the chicken and let it cook for about 20 minutes until fully cooked. Once done, take the chicken out, shred it, and return it to the pot.
  2. Toss in the mixed vegetables and let them simmer in the broth for 5-7 minutes until tender.
  3. In a separate mixing bowl, combine the flour, baking powder, and salt.
  4. In another bowl, mix the milk, melted butter, and egg. Pour this mixture into the dry ingredients and stir until just combined.
  5. Drop spoonfuls of the dumpling batter into the bubbling broth. Lower the heat to a simmer, cover the pot, and let them cook for 10-15 minutes until fluffy and cooked through.
  6. Serve hot and enjoy the warmth of this homemade classic!

Notes

For leftovers, store in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days. Add a splash of chicken broth when reheating to maintain moisture.
