Description

Quick and flavorful ground turkey tacos that everyone can customize at the table.


Ingredients

  • 1 lb ground turkey (93% lean)
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 small onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 tsp chili powder
  • 1 tsp cumin
  • 1/2 tsp paprika
  • Salt and pepper, to taste
  • Taco shells (hard shells, soft tortillas, or lettuce wraps)
  • Shredded lettuce
  • Diced tomatoes
  • Shredded cheese
  • Salsa


Instructions

  1. Heat the oil. Place a large skillet over medium heat and add the olive oil.
  2. Sauté aromatics. Add diced onion and cook for 3–4 minutes until softened. Stir in garlic and cook 30 seconds, just until fragrant.
  3. Brown the turkey. Add ground turkey. Cook 6–8 minutes, stirring and breaking it up, until no longer pink.
  4. Season. Sprinkle in chili powder, cumin, paprika, plus salt and pepper. Stir well so the spices coat the meat evenly.
  5. Finish cooking. Cook for about 5 more minutes, stirring occasionally, until the turkey is fully cooked and the flavors come together.
  6. Serve. Spoon into taco shells and pile on your favorite toppings.

Notes

Use smaller crumbles of turkey for better seasoning. Add a splash of broth or salsa if using very lean turkey.
