Description
These flavorful chicken skewers marinated in a sweet and savory honey garlic sauce are perfect for any gathering, evoking memories of summer barbecues and cozy family dinners.
Ingredients
- 1 pound boneless, skinless chicken breasts, cut into 1-inch cubes
- Bamboo skewers (soaked in water for 30 minutes)
- 1/4 cup butter
- 4 cloves garlic, minced
- 1/2 cup honey
- 1/4 cup apple cider vinegar
- 1/4 cup soy sauce
- 1/4 cup brown sugar
- 2 tablespoons cornstarch
- 1/4 cup water
Instructions
- Preheat the Grill/Oven: Set your grill to medium-high heat, or preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
- Prepare the Chicken: Thread the chicken cubes onto the soaked bamboo skewers, ensuring there’s a bit of space between each one for even cooking.
- Make the Honey Garlic Sauce: In a saucepan over medium heat, melt the butter. Add the minced garlic and sauté briefly until fragrant, about 1 minute. Stir in the honey, apple cider vinegar, soy sauce, and brown sugar. Bring this mixture to a simmer.
- Thicken the Sauce: Dissolve the cornstarch in the 1/4 cup of water and stir it into the sauce. Cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until the sauce thickens. Take it off the heat.
- Cook the Chicken Skewers: Place the skewers on the grill or in the oven. Grill for 10-12 minutes, turning occasionally, until the chicken is cooked through and has nice grill marks. Brush with the honey garlic sauce during the last few minutes of cooking.
Notes
For an extra flavor boost, marinate the chicken in soy sauce and garlic for an hour before skewering. Store leftovers in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 3 days.
