Description

A comforting dish of tender potatoes baked in a creamy sauce topped with cheese, perfect for any occasion.


Ingredients

  • 3 pounds Yukon Gold Potatoes
  • 1 teaspoon Kosher Salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon Black Pepper
  • 4 tablespoons Unsalted Butter
  • 2 cloves Garlic, minced
  • 1/4 cup All-Purpose Flour
  • 2 cups Heavy Cream
  • 1 cup Parmesan Cheese
  • 1 teaspoon Fresh Thyme


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C).
  2. Thinly slice the Yukon Gold potatoes (about 1/8 inch thick).
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Add minced garlic and sauté for 1-2 minutes until fragrant.
  4. Stir in flour and cook for another minute, mixing well.
  5. Gradually whisk in heavy cream, stirring until the sauce thickens.
  6. Add salt, pepper, and thyme, mixing to combine.
  7. In a greased baking dish, place a layer of potatoes, then cover with sauce and a sprinkle of Parmesan. Repeat layers until all ingredients are used, ending with sauce on top.
  8. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes, or until golden brown and bubbly.
  9. Allow to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For best results, use a mandoline for uniform potato slices.
