Description

A traditional meatloaf recipe that is tender, juicy, and packed with flavor, topped with a tangy-sweet glaze.

Ingredients

  • 1 large egg
  • ⅓ cup milk (or unsweetened dairy-free milk)
  • 1 teaspoon Worcestershire sauce
  • ½ cup plain breadcrumbs
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • ¼ teaspoon black pepper, freshly cracked
  • ½ cup onion, minced as finely as possible
  • lbs ground beef (80/20 ratio)
  • ½ cup ketchup
  • 1 tablespoon brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon yellow mustard

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F.
  2. In a small bowl, whisk together the egg, milk, and Worcestershire sauce.
  3. In another bowl, stir together the breadcrumbs, Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and black pepper.
  4. Mince the onion as finely as possible.
  5. In a large bowl, combine ground beef, egg mixture, breadcrumb mixture, and minced onion. Mix just until combined.
  6. Shape the mixture into a loaf on a rimmed baking sheet.
  7. In a small bowl, combine ketchup, brown sugar, Worcestershire sauce, and mustard to prepare the glaze.
  8. Spread the glaze over the meatloaf and bake for 50-55 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165°F.
  9. Let the meatloaf rest for 5-10 minutes before slicing.

Notes

For best results, use 80/20 ground beef for optimal flavor and moisture. Milk hydrates the breadcrumbs and ensures a tender loaf.
