Description

Ingredients

  • 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
  • 4 cups chicken broth
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 2 carrots, diced
  • 2 celery stalks, diced
  • 2 cups flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking powder
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 cup milk
  • 1/4 cup butter, melted
  • Pepper to taste


Instructions

  1. In a large pot, add chicken pieces, broth, onion, carrots, and celery. Bring this mixture to a boil.
  2. Lower the heat and let it simmer until the chicken is cooked through.
  3. Remove the chicken, shred it, and set it aside while maintaining the broth’s simmering state.
  4. In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Add milk and melted butter, mixing until a dough forms.
  5. Spoon the dumpling mixture into the simmering broth.
  6. Return the shredded chicken to the pot and let it simmer for another 15-20 minutes until the dumplings are cooked through.
  7. Add pepper to taste and ladle into bowls while warm.
