Ingredients
- 1 whole chicken, cut into pieces
- 4 cups chicken broth
- 1 onion, diced
- 2 carrots, diced
- 2 celery stalks, diced
- 2 cups flour
- 1 teaspoon baking powder
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 cup milk
- 1/4 cup butter, melted
- Pepper to taste
Instructions
- In a large pot, add chicken pieces, broth, onion, carrots, and celery. Bring this mixture to a boil.
- Lower the heat and let it simmer until the chicken is cooked through.
- Remove the chicken, shred it, and set it aside while maintaining the broth’s simmering state.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, baking powder, and salt. Add milk and melted butter, mixing until a dough forms.
- Spoon the dumpling mixture into the simmering broth.
- Return the shredded chicken to the pot and let it simmer for another 15-20 minutes until the dumplings are cooked through.
- Add pepper to taste and ladle into bowls while warm.
