Description

A comforting dish that combines tender pasta with a rich and creamy cheese sauce, perfect for gatherings and family dinners.

Ingredients

  • 8 ounces elbow macaroni
  • 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
  • 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cups milk
  • 1/4 cup butter
  • 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1/4 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions; drain and set aside.
  3. In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute to create a roux.
  4. Gradually whisk in the milk and bring to a simmer. Cook until the sauce thickens, approximately 5 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese, Parmesan, salt, pepper, and paprika until fully melted and smooth.
  6. Mix the cheese sauce with the cooked macaroni and pour into a greased baking dish. Optionally, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top for an added crunch.
  7. Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the dish is golden and bubbling.
  8. Allow to cool for a few minutes before diving in!

Notes

For an extra cheesy experience, mix in a variety of cheeses or broil for the last 2-3 minutes for a crispy top.
