Ingredients
- 8 ounces elbow macaroni
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 cups milk
- 1/4 cup butter
- 1/4 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper
- 1/4 teaspoon paprika
- 1/2 cup breadcrumbs (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cook the macaroni according to the package instructions; drain and set aside.
- In a saucepan, melt the butter over medium heat. Stir in the flour and cook for about 1 minute to create a roux.
- Gradually whisk in the milk and bring to a simmer. Cook until the sauce thickens, approximately 5 minutes.
- Remove from heat and stir in the cheddar cheese, Parmesan, salt, pepper, and paprika until fully melted and smooth.
- Mix the cheese sauce with the cooked macaroni and pour into a greased baking dish. Optionally, sprinkle breadcrumbs on top for an added crunch.
- Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the dish is golden and bubbling.
- Allow to cool for a few minutes before diving in!
Notes
For an extra cheesy experience, mix in a variety of cheeses or broil for the last 2-3 minutes for a crispy top.
