Description

Ingredients

  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 cup granulated sugar
  • 1 cup brown sugar, packed
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • 2 cups all-purpose flour
  • 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • 1/2 teaspoon salt
  • 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chunks
  • 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
  2. In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
  3. Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
  4. In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
  5. Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, stirring until combined.
  6. Fold in the chocolate chunks and walnuts if using.
  7. Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets.
  8. Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are firm but centers are soft.
  9. Allow to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.

Notes

Best served warm with milk or ice cream. You can freeze leftovers for up to three months.
