Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter, softened
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar, packed
- 2 large eggs
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 3/4 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1 teaspoon baking soda
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chunks
- 1/2 cup chopped walnuts (optional)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C) and line your baking sheets with parchment paper.
- In a large bowl, cream together the softened butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until fluffy.
- Beat in the eggs one at a time, followed by the vanilla extract.
- In another bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking soda, and salt.
- Gradually add the dry ingredients to the creamed mixture, stirring until combined.
- Fold in the chocolate chunks and walnuts if using.
- Drop rounded tablespoons of dough onto the prepared baking sheets.
- Bake for 10 to 12 minutes or until edges are firm but centers are soft.
- Allow to cool on the baking sheets for 5 minutes before transferring to a wire rack to cool completely.
Notes
Best served warm with milk or ice cream. You can freeze leftovers for up to three months.
