Ingredients
- 1 cup unsalted butter
- 1 cup granulated sugar
- 1 cup brown sugar
- 2 large eggs
- 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
- 1 cup all-purpose flour
- 1/2 cup unsweetened cocoa powder
- 1/2 teaspoon baking powder
- 1/4 teaspoon salt
- 1 cup chocolate chips
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
- Cream together the unsalted butter, granulated sugar, and brown sugar until smooth and fluffy.
- Add the eggs one at a time, beating well after each addition, and stir in the vanilla extract.
- In a separate bowl, whisk together the flour, cocoa powder, baking powder, and salt.
- Gradually fold the dry ingredients into the wet mixture until just combined, taking care not to overmix.
- Gently fold in the chocolate chips.
- Drop spoonfuls of the cookie dough onto ungreased baking sheets, leaving space between them.
- Bake for 10-12 minutes, until the edges are set but the centers remain slightly underbaked.
- Allow cookies to cool on the baking sheets for a few minutes before transferring to wire racks to cool completely.
Notes
For a lighter version, substitute applesauce for half the butter, or use gluten-free flour as needed. Be sure not to overbake for that perfect gooey texture!
