Description

A delicious and easy-to-make dish that brings the vibrant flavors of Chinese takeout to your home kitchen.

Ingredients

  • 1 large head of broccoli (cut into florets)
  • 3 tablespoons vegetable oil
  • lbs skinless, boneless chicken thighs (cut into bite-sized pieces)
  • 3 cloves garlic (peeled and finely chopped)
  • 3 green onions (trimmed and sliced)
  • 1-inch piece of ginger (peeled and chopped)
  • 2 tablespoons hoisin sauce (or oyster sauce for less sweetness)
  • 3 tablespoons light soy sauce (extra to taste)
  • 6 tablespoons honey (approximately)
  • 6 tablespoons hot water

Instructions

  1. Steam or sauté broccoli until tender-crisp, then set aside.
  2. Heat a wok over high heat, adding a splash of vegetable oil. Toss in the chicken and cook until browned on all sides. Remove the chicken and set aside.
  3. Add more oil if needed. Stir-fry garlic, green onions, and ginger for about 30 seconds until fragrant.
  4. Return chicken to the wok. Pour in soy sauce, hoisin sauce, and hot water. Bring to a boil.
  5. Drizzle with honey, cover, and simmer for 7-10 minutes, turning chicken occasionally until cooked through and sauce thickens.
  6. Add broccoli back to the wok and toss until heated through and coated in sauce.

Notes

For added flavor, marinate the chicken in soy sauce and a pinch of honey for 30 minutes before cooking. Feel free to mix in other vegetables for variety.
