Delicious cherry-filled cinnamon rolls that are soft, pillowy, and perfect for any occasion.
Ingredients
- 2 cups all-purpose flour
- 1 packet (2 1/4 tsp) active dry yeast
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 teaspoon salt
- 1/4 cup milk, warmed
- 1/4 cup unsalted butter, melted
- 1 large egg
- 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
- 1 cup cherry pie filling
- 1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
- 8 oz cream cheese, softened
- 2 cups powdered sugar
- 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions
- Combine the flour, yeast, sugar, and salt in a mixing bowl.
- Whisk together the warm milk, melted butter, egg, and vanilla extract in a separate bowl.
- Pour the wet ingredients into the dry mixture and knead until smooth and elastic, about 5 minutes.
- Cover the dough with a clean cloth and let it rise in a warm place for about 1 hour, or until doubled in size.
- Roll out the dough into a rectangle on a floured surface. Spread the cherry pie filling evenly over the dough and sprinkle with cinnamon.
- Starting from one edge, gently roll the dough tightly into a log and slice it into 12 equally-sized rolls.
- Place the rolls in a greased baking dish, cover, and allow them to rise for another 30 minutes.
- Preheat the oven to 375°F (190°C) and bake the rolls for 25-30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through.
- Beat the softened cream cheese with powdered sugar and milk until smooth. Drizzle generously over the warm rolls, and enjoy!
