Ingredients
- 2 lbs russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
- 2 cups heavy cream
- 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
- 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
- 3 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 teaspoon salt
- 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
- 1 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
- 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing)
Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with the butter.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and thyme (if using). Whisk until well mixed.
- Arrange a layer of sliced potatoes at the bottom of the baking dish, overlapping them slightly.
- Pour a portion of the cream mixture over the potatoes. Then, add a generous handful of cheddar cheese and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
- Repeat this layering process until you use all the ingredients, ensuring the final layer has cream and cheese on top.
- Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
- After 45 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
- Once done, let it cool slightly before serving.
Notes
Feel free to experiment with different cheeses and add toppings like breadcrumbs for a crunch.
