Description

A comforting dish of creamy layers of potatoes and rich cheeses, perfect for family gatherings or cozy dinners.

Ingredients

  • 2 lbs russet potatoes, peeled and thinly sliced
  • 2 cups heavy cream
  • 2 cups shredded cheddar cheese
  • 1 cup grated Parmesan cheese
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 1/2 teaspoon black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon dried thyme (optional)
  • 1 tablespoon butter (for greasing)

Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 375°F (190°C) and grease a 9×13 inch baking dish with the butter.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the heavy cream, minced garlic, salt, black pepper, and thyme (if using). Whisk until well mixed.
  3. Arrange a layer of sliced potatoes at the bottom of the baking dish, overlapping them slightly.
  4. Pour a portion of the cream mixture over the potatoes. Then, add a generous handful of cheddar cheese and a sprinkle of Parmesan cheese.
  5. Repeat this layering process until you use all the ingredients, ensuring the final layer has cream and cheese on top.
  6. Cover the dish with aluminum foil and bake in the preheated oven for 45 minutes.
  7. After 45 minutes, remove the foil and bake for an additional 15 minutes until the top is golden and bubbly.
  8. Once done, let it cool slightly before serving.

Notes

Feel free to experiment with different cheeses and add toppings like breadcrumbs for a crunch.
