Description

A heartwarming and comforting casserole that combines ground beef, tender potatoes, and a creamy sauce, perfect for family gatherings.


Ingredients

  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 4 medium potatoes, thinly sliced
  • 1 onion, chopped
  • 1 cup cheddar cheese, shredded
  • 1 can cream of mushroom soup
  • 1 cup milk
  • Salt and pepper to taste
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder


Instructions

  1. Preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).
  2. In a skillet, brown the ground beef and onion over medium heat until the beef is no longer pink. Drain any excess fat.
  3. In a large bowl, combine the cream of mushroom soup and milk, stirring until smooth.
  4. In a greased baking dish, layer half of the sliced potatoes. Top with the ground beef mixture, seasoning with salt, pepper, and garlic powder.
  5. Pour half of the soup mixture over the layers, then repeat with the remaining potatoes and beef. Finally, pour the rest of the soup mixture on top.
  6. Sprinkle with shredded cheddar cheese.
  7. Cover the dish with foil and bake for 45 minutes. Remove the foil and bake for an additional 15-20 minutes, until the potatoes are tender and the cheese is bubbly.
  8. Allow it to cool for a few minutes before serving.

Notes

For a crispy texture, consider broiling the cheese for the last few minutes of cooking. Add vegetables for extra nutrition.
