Ingredients
- 1 (13 oz) can refrigerated pizza dough
- 6–7 mozzarella cheese sticks
- Parchment paper (for lining the baking sheet)
- 1 large egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- 3 tablespoons butter, melted
- ½ cup grated Parmesan cheese, divided
- 1 tablespoon fresh parsley, finely chopped
- ½ tablespoon fresh rosemary, finely chopped
- ½ tablespoon fresh basil, finely chopped
- 1 clove garlic, finely grated or minced
- Marinara sauce, pizza sauce, and/or pesto for dipping
Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper.
- Unroll the refrigerated pizza dough onto a lightly floured surface and cut it into 30 small squares.
- Slice the mozzarella cheese sticks into 30 bite-sized pieces.
- Place one mozzarella piece in the center of each dough square and form a ball by pulling the dough around the cheese and sealing it.
- Arrange the dough balls on the prepared baking sheet in the shape of a Christmas tree.
- Whisk together the egg and water, then brush each dough ball lightly with the egg wash.
- Bake for 16–18 minutes until puffed and golden brown.
- While baking, melt the butter and mix in half of the grated Parmesan, parsley, rosemary, basil, and garlic.
- Brush the baked bread with the garlic herb butter and sprinkle with remaining Parmesan cheese.
- Transfer to a serving platter and serve with marinara, pizza sauce, and/or pesto.
Notes
Seal the dough well and use fresh herbs for better flavor. Make ahead by freezing shaped balls and thawing before baking.
