Description
Classic sauce-simmered meatballs made with a blend of beef, pork, and veal, perfect served over spaghetti or in sub rolls.
Ingredients
- 1/3 pound ground beef
- 1/3 pound ground pork
- 1/3 pound ground veal
- 1 cup breadcrumbs (plain or Italian; gluten-free options available)
- 1/2 cup grated Parmesan cheese (or Pecorino Romano)
- 1/4 cup chopped fresh parsley
- 2 cloves garlic, minced
- 1 large egg
- Salt and pepper to taste (start with 3/4 tsp salt)
- 2 cups marinara sauce (homemade or store-bought)
- Spaghetti or sub rolls for serving
Instructions
- Mix the three meats with breadcrumbs, cheese, parsley, garlic, egg, salt, and pepper until just combined.
- Form uniform balls (about 1–2 inches) and chill briefly.
- Brown meatballs in a skillet or roast them in the oven until golden.
- Simmer the browned meatballs in marinara sauce for at least 30 minutes to absorb flavors.
- Serve hot over spaghetti or in rolls; garnish and enjoy.
Notes
Soak breadcrumbs in milk for a softer texture. Omit dairy for a dairy-free version.
