Ingredients
- 2 cups fresh blueberries
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
- 1 tablespoon lemon juice
- 1 tablespoon cornstarch (optional for thickening)
- 1 tablespoon water (for cornstarch slurry, optional)
Instructions
- Combine the blueberries, sugar, and water in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- Cook, stirring occasionally, until the blueberries burst and the mixture starts to thicken, about 5-10 minutes.
- Stir in the lemon juice to brighten the flavor.
- If you prefer a thicker sauce, mix the cornstarch with a tablespoon of water to create a slurry. Add this to the blueberry mixture, stirring until well combined.
- Allow it to cook for an additional 2-3 minutes until thickened to your liking.
- Remove from heat and let it cool before serving.
