Ingredients
- 2 pounds large shrimp (21-25 per pound), peeled and deveined
- ¼ cup olive oil
- 2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice
- 2 tablespoons fresh minced garlic
- 2 teaspoons ground paprika
- 2 teaspoons Italian seasoning (or to taste)
- 2 teaspoons dried basil leaves
- ½ teaspoon ground black pepper
- 2 tablespoons brown sugar, packed
- Wooden or metal skewers (optional)
Instructions
- In a large bowl, whisk together paprika, minced garlic, Italian seasoning, lemon juice, olive oil, black pepper, dried basil, and brown sugar until thoroughly blended and the sugar has dissolved.

- Preheat your outdoor grill to medium-high heat. Lightly oil the grill grate.
- Remove shrimp from the marinade, allowing excess to drain off. Discard the used marinade and thread shrimp onto skewers if using.
- Place shrimp on the grill and cook for 5-6 minutes total, turning once halfway through, until the shrimp are opaque with grill marks.
- Transfer to a serving platter and enjoy immediately.
Notes
Marinate shrimp for at least 2 hours for the best flavor. Adjust sweetness by changing the amount of brown sugar used.
